Hey lovelies!! So today’s post is just a quick one, and I just wanted to talk about the somewhat iconic lipsticks by Gerard Cosmetics.
I’d seen so many beautiful photos of these lippies, and seen countless beauty gurus reaching for them in their videos, so naturally I had to try them out. They had an offer on their Instagram where you could choose 3 lipsticks for $28 (£18) so I jumped at the chance to grab an amazing bargain!
The colours I got were 1995, Buttercup, Tequilla sunrise, Nude, Kimchi Doll & Berry Smoothie. I thought I’d stick with the more natural colours as I haven’t really got many nude/brown lipsticks.
The lipsticks are a matte finish, but apply surprisingly smoothly on the lips. The first shade I tried was Buttercup. I noticed after a few reapplications through the day, that it wasn’t applying as smoothly as it first did, and that it was a little drying on my lips. I tried applying a little lip balm under the lipstick the next time, which made a huge difference. So I’d say if, like me, you are prone to dry lips, you may want to pair these with a balm, as they are a little drying (as is to be expected with a matte lipstick I suppose)
Let’s talk colours!
(Left to right: Kimchi doll, Buttercup, Nude, 1995, Berry smoothie, Tequila sunrise)
My favourite of the bunch is 1995. This colour is just everything I want from life! It was a collaboration between Gerard cosmetics and Jaclyn Hill. It’s a nude/brown colour, and the perfect 90’s grunge shade. It’s such an easy colour to wear with a number of looks and I’m currently obsessed with it. Buttercup is super pretty pinky nude. Another collab with Jaclyn hill who just knows how to create the perfect nude shades. Tequila sunrise is a bright peachy pink which will be perfect for summer! A coral lip is always a winner with me when the weather heats up and this one is beautiful. Berry smoothie is a rich warm berry toned shade. This looks really pretty with a number of looks and I think would work well for all skin tones. Kimchi doll is beautiful!! It’s the perfect baby pink/peach nude. I find in order to make it work for my skin tone I have to line my lips with a slightly darker colour. Usually I use antique rose by GOSH. If you have a lighter skin tone you will love this. Nude is pretty much what it says on the tin! A pretty, buttery smooth “your lips but better” nude shade.
I’m dying to try out some of the brighter, more colourful shades, but I thought I’d start with the neutral tones and I’m loving them so far!!
Let me know if you’ve tried these and what colours you like from the collection. I’m wanting to try the lip glosses too so if any of you have used them and can recommend some, let me know!
Thanks for reading my dears.
