I first decided to try the Estée Lauder Double Wear line a year and a half ago, when I was getting married and flawless skin was a must have. I first purchased it as a special treat, because it’s always nice to have something a bit special for your big day! It is now my holy grail foundation and I always end up coming back to it!
When I went to the Estée Lauder counter in Debenhams the sales assistant welcomed me with open arms and sat me down to have a chat about which foundations I had used in the past and what finish I generally tend to go for, e.g. matte, dewy, light/full coverage etc. She then offered to remove my make-up and apply a full face of the Double Wear so I could see how it felt on my skin. Immediately I could tell that this foundation meant business. The colour was perfection, the coverage was full and even, the finish was flawless.
Now I’ve bought countless foundations which seemed perfect upon first impression, then got them home to find they don’t actually match or last very well on my skin. So I was thrilled when the woman on the counter gave me a 7 day sample to take home and try. And I haven’t looked back since.
This foundation is to die for. If full coverage is your thing, you need this foundation in your life. This can be used as an every day foundation, though I tend to save it for special occasions or days where I need a more long wearing foundation (as it is a little more on the pricey side). I apply this over the top of my Benefit Porefessional primer using an elf flat top powder brush to evenly distribute the product.
The Double wear foundation doesn’t need to be paired with a concealer if your skin is already relatively even. But the Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer does add some extra coverage if, like me, you get dark under eye circles and redness. Together they work really well to create a flawless, almost airbrushed finish.
The concealer is a little heavy so you don’t need much. I have tried the Double Wear Brush-on Glow BB Highlighter which, compared to the Stay-In-Place concealer, I prefer as it is lightweight and reflective, meaning it’s perfect for under the eyes.
All in all I would 100% recommend you try this foundation if full coverage is what you’re after. The concealer compliments the foundation nicely and just adds that little bit extra to the over all look.
A year and a half later, I have tried several different foundations in an attempt to find a cheaper alternative. But I will always end up going back to the Double Wear. Though I find £29.50 a bit much to be spending each time I need a replacement, I cannot argue with the results. And I always think its best to have a good quality base to build on when doing make-up, so it is a worthwile investment.
The Double Wear Foundation Currently Retails at £29.50 and the Stay-In-Place Concealer at £21.50
